The Puppeteer Statuette is (finally!) in da houz!!! (More pictures of it in all its glory here.)I picked up mine just this afternoon from the 'Cow and I haven't even taken it out of its beautiful packaging yet. Had a couple things I had to knock out as soon as I got home, and I'm posting this before I even got up from the computer.
If you're looking to get one of these, you can order them from CS Moore Studios here. I'm sorry to say that I was only able to snag one for me and one for Poppa Sterb. I didn't even get one for poor Mila, whose likeness we used for the character. Oh well. Sucks to be her.
Here's what I know: These statuettes, sculpted by industry legend Clayburn Moore himself, are $99, limited to a print run of 500 and genuinely, I'm-not-just-saying-this, going fast. The "Nightmare" version, featuring the evil version of Annalee from Freshmen II #6, had a print run of 150. We signed all of the Certificates of Authenticity for it way back at San Diego Comic Con. Unfortunately, (depending on your point of view, I suppose), it's already sold out, just through pre-orders. Frankly, I don't even know how I'm going to get one for myself, it might be one of those battles where I get behind Seth and let the little guy with the big name do all of pushing.
In fact, the entire run is doing so well that there has already been talk of doing more. I'd like to take credit for it, but this statue is gorgeous-- it may well be one of Clay's best works ever, and he has earned some very rabid fans (count me as one of 'em). He's a great guy, to boot. I'm thrilled to see him doing well and blessed to be a part of it.
So, anyway, here's what I don't know: Exactly when these will be in comic shops, or if any shops will have Nightmare versions available for purchase. Your best bet, if you really want a statue, is to order it from the Moore website, because it seems unlikely you'll be able to find as good a deal on eBay. If you have to have a Nightmare version and haven't ordered one already, I'm afraid your only recourse will be eBay. I wish I could help.
One last thing in regard to the statues: The guys at Top Cow warned me to be careful when unpacking her, because the cape is well-protected and, if you're not careful with the packaging and stuff, you can snap it off. Easy does it. Ladies like it slow and easy. What? Here are both statues at San Diego Comic Con 2008. I still kick myself for giving back that Nightmare one. It was in my grubby paws!
